My New Upgrade To C63 AMG

Obviously you haven't been on here long enough to realize that most of the people who are telling him to get rid of the badges are regular W204 owners. And those like myself have had W204's before moving onwards to the C63. So before you ***** about things you have no idea about because you are probably a badge ***** yourself.

Last I checked, the C63 was and still is a W204. So thanks for pointing the obvious out to me. Ask yourself this, "How many badges are on my car that don't belong there?" My point is, the OP asked for our opinions and we gave it to him. If he didn't want to hear what we really thought and was just fishing for compliments, then he is clearly mistakened. The overwhelming majority of fokes here think that Posing Sucks!

I would be happier if everyone knew we're not talking about someone who helps position people for photographs/paintings, i.e. a "poser".
The discussion here is about a "poseur"...a different issue!

You're getting too worked up. I was simply amused and pointed out the fact that normally, posters from the C63 and other AMG forums do not post on the C-Class (W204) forum. However the moment someone makes a thread like this, they are eager to call him out for 'posing'. It seems like an issue that hits close to home. There's no need to accuse or call me a 'badge w****' and frankly it's a little immature.
My apologies for getting worked up over this and resorting to name calling. I'm one to admit it when I'm wrong, but I'm still sticking with calling the OP a "Poseur" (Thanks Sportstick!) I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone is telling the OP to debadge those emblems, not just the C63 owners.

How is this even an "upgraded" C300 to C63? All I see is quad tailpipes and some cheap badging and incorrect trunk spoiler. What about the AMG rear diffuser, C63 wheels, the AMG front bumper and hood, tinted headlight covers and front grill. Even as posers go, this is pretty bad, a poser's poser in my opinion.

If we were to "upgrade" to the new C63 AMG coupe for the 2013 model year... we would definitely remove the badging on the truck lid that identifies the car as a "C63" or an "AMG".
People who know what the car is (from all the visually identifiable characteristics that an AMG vehicle has over a standard MB) will appreciate it while the general masses will just think it's just another MB.
One of my favorite stories involves a McDonald's drive-thru cashier and an MB with V12 side badging (rear debadged and engine under the hood to back it up).
After handing over the order, the cashier does a double-take.
With a look of surprise, he asks in a dumbfounded voice, "Is that really a V12?!"
The driver chuckles and says, "Yeah", before accelerating away to allow the cashier to hear the growl of the mighty V12.
A lot of people drive cars with 4 cylinder engines and may aspire to V6 and V8 engines... this McDonald's cashier apparently didn't even know that V12s existed until that day!
I also know someone who saw a friend's debadged AMG and is getting a standard 350 model in the same color and thinking that it's the same car... I'd say that since MOST people can't tell the difference, why bother?
With a "re-badged" car, people who know what the car is (from all the visually identifiable characteristics of a non-AMG vehicle) will laugh and scorn the owner (as we've already seen in this thread!) while the general masses (who don't even know what AMG is!) will just think that it's just another MB.
Anyway, to the OP: If you've already put money into "upgrading" your car, might consider taking off the badging and just let people wonder about your car... they'll be scratching their heads thinking "It doesn't *look* like a C300 and it doesn't *sound* like a C300... I wonder what it might be?" =)

1) It is as much an English word originally derived from another language as, for example, "detour". Do you object to "detour"? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=poseur
2) Poser and poseur are homonyms, if you are referring to spoken conversation.
3) Unless you are making a joke, why would anyone consciously choose to be wrong on such basic writing and speaking skills?
