Left low beam malfunction
I have the Bi Xenons of an 08 C300. When my low beam went out, after a week of trying different things out, the dealership replaced the ignitor (bulb) starter located under the light. They also replaced the housing as it apparantly had a leak that caused the system to go out. This would have been a fairly expensive repair (over $1,200) had it not been covered by warranty. ....and I'm pretty sure that I would still be steaming about it a year later.
On the Bi Xenons, the bulb's are about $200 a piece. The dealership originally thought it was the bulb. Bad guess. Then they tried replacing the starter circuit. They ordered what MB stated was a suitable replacement. For whatever reason, it wouldn't code properly. They ultimately got a replacement starter that didn't carry the suitable replacement comment.
My personal opinion now is that I'll avoid Bi Xenons as I've seen other lights that cost a lot less put out as much or more light and when they go out, all you have to do is a simple replacement. Cool factor somewhat gets lost with the Bi Xenons when you figure out how problematic Bi Xenons can be. ...and this doesn't even touch the self leveling vulnerability when the control arm comes lose.
