How to help jump other car?

I was shocked that the battery is not what I expected in our car.
I opened the hood and on passanger side, I see the red cover that slides down. I know that is the positive terminal and the ground is also easy to find.
But, Where is the negative terminal?
I was trying to help jump friend, and couldn't find the negative terminal.
I removed the cover of the positive terminal by pushing the clip, I see one connection that looks like negative terminal next to where positive is.
IS this the negative terminal or our car are not capable of help jump star other car?

You can put the neg terminal on anything metal just the earth the connection does not need to be the battery

The brass looking post in front of the hose is used to jumpstart. It is a ground point same as connecting to the negative terminal. Great design by Mercedes-Benz since this is how you SHOULD jumpstart your car.

So to make things clear, I can help jumpstart my friends car (my c300 to Toyota) by putting negative end to ground in my car?

Yup... might be a good idea if your car is also running

Brave souls or truly good Samaritans... Lost an ECU once jumping someone. Since then I have the habit of either disconnecting the good battery from the helping vehicle, or in most American cars, since the battery is so easily accessible, just take the battery out completely and schlep it over to the car that's ill. In either case, reconnecting the battery is a good opportunity to clean the terminals and check the clamps. Although usually in these circumstances one always has 1001 other urgent things to do.
