After the great gas octane debate....What's your stance on injector cleaners?
Do you use off the shelf injector cleaner in your car every now and then? If so what brand do you use and what experiences have you come across?

From the owner's manual :
In areas where carbon deposits may be
encountered due to lack of availability of
gasolines which contain these additives,
Mercedes-Benz recommends the use of
additives approved by us for use on
Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
Refer to Factory Approved Service Products
pamphlet (USA only), or contact an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center for a
listing of approved product(s). Follow
directions on product label.
Do not blend other fuel additives with fuel.
This only results in unnecessary cost and
may be harmful to the engine operation.
Damage or malfunction resulting from poor
fuel quality or from blending additional fuel additives
other than those tested and approved by us
for use on Mercedes-Benz vehicles are not covered
by the Mercedes-Benz Limited Warranty.
For a listing of approved products, refer to the
Factory Approved Service Products pamphlet

I use Lucas Oil gas treatment in the bottle good for a fill up cleans well, but i use it on my Honda Civic =)

It is a fact that some injector cleaners can dissolve certain plastics used in the fuel lines, connectors, and pumps. The previous owner of my V12 apparently did, and it was thousands to replace the fuel pump, its casing, and many plastic connectors. The best preventative for avoiding clogged injectors is decent gasoline, replace the fuel filter at the recommended interval, and getting filled IMMEDIATELY whenever possible when the fuel reserve warning comes on, to prevent dirt, junk and water being unnecessarily sucked into the fuel system.

Adding anything to every fill up is unnecessary. It takes a very long time to degrade injector performance and I'm talking about years by my own personal experience.

Yes I know that the cleaners deteriorate the fuel system and gaskets if used too much I just wanted to see if anyone has suggestions. I used lucas treatments on my VW and never had a problem.

I used Techron at 20,000 miles. The next tank my engine rpms started to fluctuate. Don't know if its related or not. But I gave my second bottle to my dad to use in my sl500. I'm not going to do it again, haha.
