what you do is plug in a longer aux cable and let it hang out from the right side of the glove box there should be a small gap that wont squish the wire. From there you can reroute from under the glove box all the way to the trim of the center piece and have a wire stick out near the cup holder to plug in your ipod/mp3

I used to do that cable run to the cupholder. But I upgraded for a little bit more money. On eBay I managed to snag a blackberry stereo A2DP transmitter and car charger with auxillary cable for about $25... I have it sit in the glovebox, and powered off the car charger port in the glove box. Then I just connect my iPhone through bluetooth and I'm good to go. I only had to enter the pin in once. But now it connects automatically and the blackberry transmitter powers on automatically when the car turns on and off automatically when the car turns off.

I now have no cables to my phone, and everything neat and tidy in the glovebox.

Here is the adapter on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Rem...1064115&sr=8-2

The deal on my page that came up was $55 for the transmitter (which comes with the AUX cable) a micro usb cord, and a usb car charger for $55. This is the best deal I could find right now. eBay is like $60 just for the transmitter right now.

Occasionally you will find better deals on eBay (for around $30). But at $55 for everything, I think it is still well worth it, plus, no hassle of eBay.

Wait so the adapter needs a charger? What is the USB cable for? And what's the sound quality like?

The adapter needs power, they have ones that run off batteries but its complete BS. The sound quality is awesome, just like a straight up auxillary cable.

The unit doesn't take a DC "circle" power input, it is powered via a micro USB port. I don't recall if the package comes with a USB mini cord or not, but I think its useful to have for about $1... Then that plugs into the usb car charger which powers the unit. Then the aux cable connects the blackberry transmitter to the aux jack in the glove box. Then you open you iPhone/droid/blackberry, etc and scan for the transmitter via bluetooth and enter the pin in the instructions (I believe its 0000) and then your good to go.

As in - if you don't connect to it, does it still turn on. Yes. Unless you unplug it or manually turn it off (but you will have to do this each time the car starts). However, its not big, and I doubt it takes up much power (the thing is about .25" tall and 1" long...)

You phone will connect automatically every time. But on my iPhone an icon comes up on the bottom right in the iPod app that will let me change output from bluetooth to iPhone or AUX (if connected) in a matter of seconds.

And if your wondering if it draws power when the car is off - no, it turns off when the car turns off.

I have a 1ft-er and just keep my phone in the glove box which if actually ok since it's clean and I'm listening to playlists 90% of the time but sometimes annoying.

I'm a little OCD about cords sticking out too so hopefully this won't bother me

Basically my question is, from what i understand ,i need the following things, the blackberry music reciever, an Aux cable which i already have, and a power cord.

But my question is, the power cord that comes with it is a power cord that plugs in the car or its a household power plug? so i need to buy a car charger separately?

lam,

the charging is coming from the USB.

Since we've got an aux-power in the glove box, you can get one of those adapters that plugs into the aux-power and has 2 female usb ports on it for charging. Those things are like $5-10.

And on a side note... wtf MB.. my girlfriends $9k Kia Rio has a USB port built in. Get w/ it

ya. you can also normally find a phone charger with additional USB ports, that way you can use it for either function.

Sorry I have been MIA the last day and left you stranded, haha. I don't want to give you mis-information as I don't know what the amazon package comes with (as I bought it on eBay from a private seller). But my guess is that it comes with the transmitter, aux cable, and the only thing that is iffy is the usb cable (but how could it not come with one??). Then all you would need is a car charger that will take a usb port as an input to power the unit. OH, and most of all, some device capable of bluetooth A2DP transmission. Most smartphones do this (droids, iPhones, blackberries, etc) but it would be a good idea just to double check before making the dive.
