spring pads DIY?

If I want to change the spring pads is it the same as taking the springs out for the rear? Can I assume that the rubber block that holds the spring in place in this guide is the spring pad? https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...g-springs.html

Also, would I need an alignment after? Some say removing the rear springs I would need to redo alignment? I am not changing springs, just trying to change the spring pads to the 5mm ones.

absolutely! haha I wanted to get springs but with less than 1 year of lease left I figured I better not. I've always wanted to change the spring pads, but I got my summer rims last year and they have an aggressive offset so it looks like my car is lowered already so I think if I put on some 5mm spring pads I would get around 1 finger gap at the back. (or at least I hope)

I bought a pair of the 5mm pads a couple of years ago with the thought that I'd install them myself. After sliding under to take a look, I slid back out and let the dealer do it. As I recall it wasn't that much to have someone else have the fun.

It has been done here by someone but there are some things that just aren't worth the work.

The car WILL NOT require an alignment because the small camber change is still within factory spec. Putting my car on the rack to check it was part of the installation.

5mm isn't much but I can see the difference.

Yep, I read your post couple years ago and I think you're one of the few that has only changed the pads instead of changing springs too? I need to put on my summers too and the DIY says it's only a few nuts so I thought i'd give a try. I'll have a closer look when I switch wheels and if it looks too confusing I'll see if I get a shop to do it. I remember a few years ago, I was quoted almost $300cdn to have these changed (almost the same price as changing suspension) because they said they need to take everything apart or something.. haha

Good luck.

Now that I think about it, I had not used up my MBCA/MBUSA $1500 gift card at that point so my cost was zero.

If I had to pay I still wouldn't do it myself.
