Oh well, what now
I hate for this to be my first post and it to be on the down side. Without going into a lot of detail I had to trade my 522 RWHP 03 Cobra for a 2009 C300. I think it pulls very well for what it is but. So I was checking things out here for a little help power wise. I'm 63 and have been a hot-rodder all my life. I thought I could change the air inlet filter, X pipe it, and find someone here in the south to tune it to get the best out of it. It looks like my options are very limited. Ah...change wheels, tint and drive.........is that really it?

Welcome to MBWorld
Have you tried using the search function?
There's quite a few companies who specializes in ECU tune... Several W204 members had theirs done at Powerchip and were satisfied with the results.
X-pipes such as Magnaflow x-pipe has been widely used by forum members... No noticeable gain in performance but most do it for sound
It's going to be close to impossible or not even worth the price tuning a C300 to gain 100 horses more.
Have you consider a C63?

Got it. Nice scenery there. C63 would be the only way you would be happy coming from the last car you had I imagine. I'm going to just make the suspension and running gear more sporty. The power is plenty for how I'm going to use it. I came from an 08 BMW Z4 Roadster to my C300 and the drive is night and day.

I must say that I'm surprised by the V6. Any ECU programmers out there? Would a K&N help any at all? If the X pipe just makes it louder without any aide it's out.

The most bang for your buck with the m272 engine on a C300 would be a remote turbo to be honest. You're paying $500-1000+ for an ECU tune that'll give you maybe 10hp? These N/A engines just aren't that powerful. Most here instead turn their attention to suspension and turn her into a twistie beast. If you want power, then you should consider a C63, although as a hot rodder, you'd probably be happier with a used w211 E55 which you can eek out lots of power.

My first question is why a C300 if you wanted a fast car?! A 3500 lb car with 220 hp is not going to be fast and a little research would have told you that the engine has almost zero tuning capability...
You should have gone with a C350, the 268hp is just enough to feel "sporty" when you step on it. It certainly makes for fun passing on the highway and quickly jetting down the onramps. 0-60 mph in 5.8 sec. is quick but even the C350 doesn't feel terribly fast.
You probably would have been much more happy with a BMW 335 or Audi S4. I'm curious if you drove either of those before buying the C300?
My next car will probably be a used 335xi or S4 since I'm now a little bored with 268 hp. If you don't mind a used car that is 2-3 years old a 335 can be had for the same price as a base C300...

Who has the best cat-back for these things?

As far as ecu tuning goes there are a few out there including Powerchip , OE Tuning , Kleeman and a few more . I have the Powerchip tune and I'm very happy with it . You could also look into sprint booster ... Won't make you any faster but from what I have read make the car feel quicker .

Im pretty sure Kleeman does one and maybe Brabus too but expect to pay a pretty penny . You can also do headers , all the big Mercedes names make them .

Welcome
Ahh the Terminator, what a wonderful and bulletproof machine.
For no more than 1,600 you can get your car to around 250 crank. This includes headers and an ECU tune and K&N filters. If you know exhaust work (welding) and have the room to work on your car you can easily get away with 1,000.
For tuning options I would contact OETuning or Eurocharged.
Tuning shouldn't cost no more then 600 dollars max. Sometimes they run specials for 300 dollars.
The headers that I'm talking about are knock off headers from a well known company called Kleemann. The headers are 375 dollars shipped. I've ran them for almost a year without any issues and have suggested them to many members and they are happy with the product as well.
Here are the headers.

I gained 16whp on a dyno dynamics with the OETuning tune. (if you want to see my dyno graph let me know, I'll PM it)
I believe you will gain more with headers since you have a higher compression motor than me. A member who has the same engine model as you gained over 30hp with the header and ECU tune combo.
Again I recommend OETuning or Eurocharged. Contact them as see which one gives you a better deal and who has a dealer near you so you don't have to ship out your ECU and get stranded without a car.
There are many ways to make power with these engines. Don't let people scare you off that you can't make power and that you got the wrong car. For another 1,100 dollars you can most likely make another 20hp crank if you really tried.
Good luck and again welcome.
Edit:
I forgot to say, in your area you guys have 93? Here in California we have crap 91.If you have 93 then they can go a little aggressive on you![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)

FYI a 2.5 liter M272 who invested no more than 1,400 is spanking the hell out of C300s and soon with his new mod he'll be giving the C350 guys a run for their money.
Right now off the top of my head I can think of 7 mods that'll add guaranteed power.
Well im a C350 guy and ive done a custom cold air intake and straight pipe with an X and Im wondering what these other mods are? i want to do headers and tuning as well but what else is there?

I guess I'll just have to have her tuned and do the exhaust, the K&N's are already in. Talked with a tuner who said I should get great results since we run 93 octane here. Now what exhaust without being as load as the V8 was. You could hear me waaaaaaay before you saw me.

E - looking forward the the tune results.
So the old Pony car guy in you gave in and added K&Ns?
BTW - your Cobra explanation of removing the air box took me back to my Fox days. First mod, remove the silencer box. Hahahahhahah
