Phone call buttons

Phone call buttons
I played with the pickup and reject/end buttons on dash board and on steering wheel. Steering wheel buttons don't seems to work. Does it require engine running? Dash buttons always work fine.

A correction: If I am not on the phone call page, I have to press the COMAND unit pickup button to bring the calling page up; steering wheel button can't do that. But once the phone number is dialed, both COMAND and steering wheel buttons work. That is the only difference between the two sets of the same buttons. Key is not required to operate the phone call.
Now I think it is just designed that way.

Yes.
I called mbusa care center. A rep said he does not have a car with him but he is sure it is designed that way. He suggested I bring my car to dealer and let dealer explain all details.
