Unhappy Regret HID's???

Well I finally got everything hooked up and working. Am I the only one that is disappointed with these over the regular light bulbs? The output is no where near as good going through the projector with the HID bulb. It is also very scattered and shines more off to the sides than directly ahead of the car. It is not focused at all.

Is anyone else with me or do you all think the HID's light up the road better than the regular halogen bulb?

I do think the lense looks better, but thats also where my liking of the HID ends.

I am running at 35watt 5000K HID setup.

I tried re-aiming. It appears to be more like a flood light with the brightest part where the fogs aim. Everything else is shining way out to the corners. I have no focused beam towards the center at all. I don't think you can aim left to right. It's only adjustable up and down. Correct?

I would double check the seating of the bulbs. Even though H7s are "keyed" at the base, it is still possible to not properly seat them, which could cause the probs you describe.

I had the same problem when I did mine and what i did was put the bulb upside down. The wire on the bulb must be facing down and make sure its seated properly. If its your first time like it was mine, it will look right but its not. Make sure the plastic surrounding the bulb is flush with the headlight.

I will give this a try. I know the wire on the bulb was facing the sides of the lense when installed. Thanks for your help.

I know it's not helpful to you, but speaking of the factory lighting package: I've taken loaners without it. No way. The factory bixenon package is amazing, I've never had better lights, i could play baseball in front of the car.

IMO, lighting package is non-negotiable. We're spec'ing out a GLK for Mrs Encoder and I'm giving her a budget for options (any options she'd like), but I'm fairly sure I'll add the lighting package to the "base price" so it doesn't eat away her options budget. IMO it shouldn't be an option. It's that critical to the car.

I def know what you mean. I had the bixenon on my BMW X3 and it was amazing as well.

And I finally got these lights working. Not sure what the problem was, but took the bulb out and put it back in at night while they were on and everything worked. I'm guessing they just weren't seated all the way in.

Anyhow, thank you all for the help! These are much better now than the factory halogens!
