SRS Malfunctioning after removing the seat

Hey guys,

I removed both drivers and passenger's seat the other day to detail my car and when I put them back together, I have two new messages pop-up regarding front left/right SRS malfunctioning. Does anyone know if you need to reset something, I checked the wiring and it looks ok!

I guess you didnt disconnect the battery when you did this?

Just clear the fault codes with Star Diag or Bosch tester and errors should not come back.

Regards, L

Does anyone know any other way beside taking it to the dealer or using the diag tools? (Would the warranty cover that? I only have 45k on it)

I've read that AutoZone will read and and maybe clear OBDII codes, so you might give them a try if you have one local to you..

if not try this..

The SRS fault is not an OBD2 code so an OBD2 reader cannot reset it. You need a Star system or the equivalent.

$500 is a ridiculous price to pay for resetting. It takes all of 5 minutes to take care of it.

Maybe look for an independent shop or a friendly forum member with a Star system. If you lived near Ann Arbor I'd be glad to help.

Good luck!

I called the dealership and they said it should still be under warranty, so they will inspect it for free. hopefully they won't charge me "fine print" fees..

Just keep silent about how you caused this and maybe they won't charge you. And when the SRS fault warning is on, the system is off. No airbags or belt tensioners.

You don't have to disconnect the battery. Just keep the key out of the slot.
