Car not starting. Help needed

Hi guys.
I've got an automatic 2008 c220 cdi (w204) and it has stopped working today.
I unlocked my car and got in and put the key in and turned in and there is no power going through at all. The dash lighting don't even light up apart frm the mileage which iz always displayed. The headlights don't work etc but the cd player does work so I'm confused. When I unlock the car and turn the key the only thing that happens is that the car makes a low beeping sound for a few seconds and that's it.

Does any1 know what the problem could be?

Sounds like your battery is dead an not providing sufficient voltage to the starter, and what little juice remains is enough to power the cd player. Try starting the car with the cd player on and see if the cd player goes out. More than likely its your battery

Cd player works ok when trying to start it so i don't think it is the battery. when I unlock the car and put the key in and turn the final click as if i were to fire the engine up, it makes a low clicking sound several times and then the sound just stops.

Could it have anything to do with the ignition switch?

Thanks

Your battery only has enough juice to power the radio....and since the starter demands so many amps/current, when you turn the key nothing happens but a low clicking sound (the sound of the starter gear trying to engage the flywheel) and there just isnt enough juice to turn the engine when its trying to compress air within 6 cylinders....

Is it a beep or a clicking sound? If clicking it's like everyone says battery or alternator in either case not enough power to turn over if beeping thou your key might have ran out of codes to start it. Had that problem with my 08 lucky for me was still under warranty.

Most likely the battery has failed. Check that the terminals are tight. If you have a multi meter , check battery voltage.

You can also check battery voltage by going into dyno mode.

Try jump starting in the correct fashion. Make sure that the ignition key is withdrawn when you connect up the donor battery .

If you have to replace the battery

Try batteries, etc. They have a true OEM equivalent battery at a much lower price than a dealer.

If you can jump your car and drive it there last i checked they will even install it for free with a battery tender so you won't loose your settings.

Then have your voltage regulator checked.

Not the switch. The low clicking is likely the starter solenoid trying to engage but cannot due to low voltage.

You cannot replace the battery with a conventional lead-acid type so don't even try.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but if it indeed was they battery, wouldn't the car not let you use accessories like the radio and stuff. These cars have a safety cut-off when the battery is at a low level to deny accessory usage to (hopefully) save starting ability.

Try to jump your car or charge the battery. And bring it right to a walmart, pep-boys, autozone, whatever you have. They will do a free battery test.

I had a similar problem with my c300 09 about 9 mos ago. Car had to be towed by MB Roadside Assistance. Turned out to be somekind of ingnition kill switch gone bad. Waited nearly 3 weeks for the part. If your under warranty call MB Roadside Assistance.
