I see quite a few command units on ebay for under 1k. My question is will retrofitting one of these in my c300 give me ipod integration and the sort? I originally specifically went for the c300 without the pop out but now I'm starting to want one.

it looks like two of the parts you listed are the screen and central unit itself. O_o

yes and you need one of this according to your car manufacture date:

No it will not give you iPod integration you will need to get the ipod kit for that and you don't need comand for that.
