Valet Key

Somebody mentioned a valet key in another thread.

I bought my car CPO -- but it was hardly driven and well taken care of. I got 2 keys when I purchased it. Both are identical.

Did I get shorted a valet key of some kind?

(When I do valet, i remove the inner key from the fob. I keep my keyring and give only the fob to the attendant, which keeps a him out of my locked glovebox.)

Right, but did you buy your 08 new?

Somebody here specifically said that the valet key keeps the attendant out of your trunk.

I haven't tried it, but is the fob unable to open the trunk if the inner key is removed? Or did I just not get a special valet fob?

(I'm in the office right now, I'll def try this when I go home tonight, i just figured somebody would know for sure)

You remove the inner key from the fob and use it to manually lock the trunk/glove box leaving the fob (minus the inner key) with the valet, so that even if the valet hits the trunk release or tries to open the glove box, its got the hard lock on it so they cant access it. There is not 'valet fob'. At least thats what it says in the manual :P

I didn't think there would be -- those fob's are pricey.

Thanks for clearing that up.
