Sunglasses Storage

I am just curious as to how everyone stores their sunglasses. I just got my car and one thing that really bothers me is there is no place to store sunglasses. Both of my other vehicles have sunglasses storage built in. My 99 has it but an 09 Mercedes doesnt?

Let me know. And if you have pictures that would be great. Thanks.

I just put mine in my sunglass case and put it in the center storage compartment (between driver and passenger seats).

Another round of ICE
Daily use clip-ons in standard eyeglass case in center console storage. Oakleys (if ever needed) in glovebox in the large rounded case, but they don't get much usage as non-prescription lenses.

I keep my sun glasses case on the door compartment, is very accessible and the perfect size.

What's funny is, my wife's car has a sunglass holder, but she never uses it because it's not the right size for her sunglasses. They look like they're more for holding glasses that are slimmer when folded - like reading glasses.

Talking about storage, the back door storage pocket is too small almost like a joke. I wish the door armrest is a little higher so the storage could be made a little deeper. Front door storage is ok.

It's a step in the right direction at least. My W203 had no door storage for the back seats.

With the arms opened, I stick my sun glasses under the sun-visor... In the slight chance that I have to flip my visor down, then by definition, it is sunny and the sunglasses are on my face.

Same here, my oakleys are lightweight enough and have a sort of sticky rubber lining on the arms so I just tuck one arm in between the sun visor and roofline (mine are always opened), you can also do it with the visor closed over one arm.

The ray bans stay in a case in the glove compartment. A little annoying to get to, but I really don't want to screw up the polarized lens by dropping it in the center storage with all my other misc. objects. I got a scratch on my oakleys doing that, the lens are polarized fire orange or something and they have a most annoying "reflection" type thing going on where the scratch is.

Anyone notice that if you move your head side to side with polarized lenses on the pop-up screen looks like it is going on and off.

I found that leaving plastic framed sunglasses in the visor on a hot day will cause them to loose shape and not fit as well.

There is an original Mercedes sunglasses holder that gets swapped with the drivers grabhandle. It looks like this:

It is available in light grey, black and in beige. These should be the part numbers (please re-check in case you try to order it):

black: A20481000419051
grey: A20481000417E94
beige: A20481000418N96

I know. When I first bought the car, it took me a minute to realize it was me and not the display.

Thanks for the useful info. I will certainly look into this next week. My prescription polarized sunglasses were hellishly expensive and even though I keep them in the cupholder on a folded handkerchief, they have picked up some permanent scuffs.

If this is Euro equipment not sold in the US, it cannot be ordered from MBUSA, unfortunately.
