2012 C-class wheels - opinions

These are the available wheels for the 2012 C350. Wheel 3 is 17" standard. Wheel 4 is the AMG 7-spoke and wheel 5 is the AMG 5-spoke. I'm leaning toward wheel 5. It is supposed to be the traditional AMG style. Thoughts?

Would those 18's going to beat us to death? Roads aren't too bad around here but there's the occasional doozy. Wheel 4 would be easier to clean the brake dust off of. The 18's are a little over a $1000 upgrade.

IMO the 18's make the car. I love mine and love to look down my nose at others with the standard rims

I went through this dilemma. In canada the 7-spoke are standard and newer so I went with those Wheel #5 is on the current C-class if I'm not mistaken. I also find those wheels look smaller due to the design

I went with the 18" AMG 5 spoke, but after I ordered the car I tried to change it to the 7 spoke as I prefer this look. However I was too late! Oh well.

As for the ride quality, I have come from a BMW e90 325i with 18's so IMHO I think its a really smooth ride.

Ever since I saw the 7-spoke on the new coupes, I've wanted them. I wonder what they'd look like on an '09.

I opted against the stock 18's PRECISELY because every non-old-lady-c300 has them.

Not that they're not fine, just that paying extra for wheels that are so common didn't interest me.

Edit: but to be fair, i get your point. I wouldn't admit it to anybodies face but i do the same (look down my nose) at people who drive a 300.

You did not mention where you are from , but if it's in the snow belt, I would get the 17's and use them for winter and then get an aftermarket set of 18's for spring, summer & fall.

If thats not an option I like the five spoke 18's.

I like option number 5. Simple, clean, and a bit more aggressive.

And yet your 2008 is likely silver with black tex? THAT combination is common. When I see that combination, I think impulse lease car.

18" is perfect for our cars.
It's the bes balance of looks and comfort.
Have you consider aftermarket wheels? They are much cheaper and more unique looking (just don't go with anything too busy looking or flashy).

...but if you get the same "Forged" quality level as OEM, the aftermarket will be at least $800 / wheel...will survive pot holes

Look down your nose at C300 drivers...hate to break it to you but a 350 is no S class either bud.

UT OH....do we have the first 350 vs 300 "debate" getting started here???? Doesnt sound very nice so far...and why the rip on Silver cars? damn - you just insulted a S*** load of members with that comment Mr. red and beige...

I like those 7 spoke wheels, I have never seen them, but think they are very very nice looking...tell you what, you get those, and I will drive over and trade you my 6 spoke AMGers for them haha...Get what you like, it is all about what you think looks/drives best as you are the one that will be smiling every time you go to your car, not us...good luck!

Could someone post pics of the 7 spoke rims on a car please?

I assumed he was joking from the smiley face. Otherwise, could you imagine anyone deriving self-esteem from an extra inch on his....ahem....wheel?

He wasn't the one using any the smiley face! Its not really up for a debate, we all have low end cars in the line up. I enjoy my car, that's all I care about.

get whatever is standard and use the 1000 towards a second set of wheels. You will be very glad u have the second set. U can get a really nice better looking set of reps for under a thousand, and do tires with the rest of it and come in under 1500 for all. Just shop around and get good reps, not the cheap ones. powerwheelspro is a sponsor here and alot of good things are said about their wheels, they are JWL certified, same as OEM wheels

You make a good point. Looks like most of those on powerwheelspro are around $500~$600. What would be the difference between theirs and OEM quality-wise? It is tempting to have an entire second set of wheels for only slightly more than the upgraded 18s cost.

I went to the lot today and definitely prefer the 18s over the 17s. The C needs a little something extra to offset the traditional somewhat conservative MB styling.

With two sets running, one on each Benz, I cannot find the quality difference between Powerwheelspro and OE wheels. Some of that is likely due to them getting their wheels from additional production from some of the same sources/suppliers as OE, and carrying JWL, TUV, and ISO9001 process certification.

(I guess it's pretty clear we like an open 5 spoke design!)
