C300 Manual Tranny Maintenance?

Hello, I havent been able to find any info on when to replace the tranny fluid in the C300 manual. Any recommendations on type of fluid and if its just a drain and fill procedure.

Thanks.

I plan to own the car for long time and I don't plan to do any maintenance on manual transmission. Simply not necessary.

Don't know the type of fluid to use for MB (my C350 is a slushbox) but on my past BMW manuals, I did the trans and diff about every 30k miles. Easy drain and fill for both the trans and diff. My BMWs only took about 2 liters for the trans and about the same for the diff.

Good insurance. I plan on changing mine out every 30K as well. Whoever heard you don't need to ever change it out and believed it must have deep enough pockets to be able to just buy another car when it gives out because of neglect.

If you prefer to change regularly and use the right fluid and do it right, there is no hurt to do that.

On the other hand, the role of manual transmission fluid is very different (much simpler) from auto transmission fluid. Manual transmission fluid is mainly for lubrication only. There is no energy transfer role like auto transmission fluid (that's why some auto transmission fluid got burnt) and there is no contamination like engine oil. So, with today's synthetic oil, I am very comfortable that it will outlast the car.

So, in my opinion, its simply unnecessary.
