AMG test drive
I came back from the AMG event in Alameda Pointe. Four AMG models, C63, CLS, E63 and SLS or SLK (I don't remember). Wait was too long so I only test drove C63 and CLS.
Personally I don't like the sound when accelerating when I am outside the car. However, when I drove, floored the pedal, the sound was much lower and not that rough, due to good insulation. C63 and CLS are both quick and fast. It was a very brief test.
I like those AMG cars but will never buy one. They are too expensive and I don't need extra power.

CLS is a Bi-turbo. They say turbo always has a lag. I don't notice CLS has any lag.
An AMG person told me that after MB chassis/body is made and given to AMG, basically there is "no MB" from that point on. All performance parts are purely AMG, not shared with MB.
I am not familiar with the other two models as I don't like two seaters. I think it is the SLS which is longer than SLK right? Got into E63 line for just a minute and gave up and came back home.
Another "bird-wing" door two seater on the floor but not for test drive.

SLK (even in AMG form) is about the price of a C63 or mid-range E class. An SLS is supercar pricing territory and you feel 'special' (e.g. the gullwing doors).
