Smile Are these the proper steps to apply & release the parking brakes?

TO APPLY:
1) when vehicle comes to a stop while the gear is still in "D"
2) press on the parking brake
3) then shift the gear to "P"

TO RELEASE:
1) after you start the engine, shift the gear from "P" to "D"
2) pull the handle to release the parking brake
3) drive off

Please let me know if these steps are correct or not?

Thanks a lot.

when you apply or release the parking brake, make sure you always have the foot brake applied.

I believe the true way to do it is to put it in N and then apply the parking brake while foot being on brake, then release brake, then put in P
