Peelage
Hey all-- been a while since I posted on the forums. Anways, I remember seeing a post not too long ago about the paint/material peeling around the audio console/ dashboard and I seem to have the same thing only around the front cupholders. I was wondering if there was some type of remedy I could go about doing it myself or if I should just take it to MB. The texture of the "paint" is almost like MBs version of plasti-dip...if you catch my drift, ha. Thanks.

Seeing as you drive a 2010 I'm sure you can get it warrantied. Even if they pull the "Oh that's just wear and tear." thing, they should still cover it if they wanna stick by MB quality standards. If all else fails, call MBUSA and they'll probably tell your dealership to cover it.

I have chipping of the chrome surround on the cup holders in the same spot. Agreed with taking it to the dealer to see if they will cover it. The covered my shift knob when it started peeling no questions asked.

I had both replaced under warranty. First was the chrome trim (damn that stuff is sharp). Then the side of the console started peeling. I tried to get the Euro console but they said they couldn't order it.

It took a day or two for the part to come in (they don't usually keep them in stock). There are multiple parts used to make the console and I believe they just order that piece.

And when you go to the dealership, the operative word to use is peeling. When a piece of trim starts to peel, they will fix it / replace it as long as it's under factory warranty. They've fixed many peeling trim pieces for me.
I'm sure there are some exceptions to this, and one I know is the audio headunit. There is a memo in circulation about peeling / damage to the audio headunit as a result of "aggressive" clip-on liquid air fresheners and this damage is not covered by MB warranty.
