Vented rotors - orientation difference?
Dropped the car off for A1 service this morning and noticed something peculiar and can't believe I missed it until now.
The rotor orientation is different between the driver and passenger sides. That is, the drilled swirl/fan pattern is forward facing on the driver side and backward facing on the passenger side. I would've thought they'd either both be going fwd or both backward. It's as if my car had two of the same rotors installed vs one left and one right.
Quick sanity check please? Are your front rotors both facing the same way?
ps my dealer *finally* offers MB loaners; am cruising around in a brand new (96 miles on the clock) C300 4M w/ COMAND; although I've never been interested in paying up for Navi, the integration of the whole system will have me thinking twice next time around; lastly... driving this car for the short commute back to work solidifies my standing that I'll always be driving a 6-spd as my DD; can't stand the lag, whether in full auto or tip mode

You have the correct rotors installed correctly. Waiting for my tires to get installed right now and went ahead and checked for you. it is indeed different from the driver and passenger side. You have nothing to worry about.

Thanks, Loonie. Wasn't actually worried, rather found it strange. MB opted against uniformity to save $$ by not having two drill patterns for left/right. Then again, maybe all drilled or slotted rotors employ this same thought process since it shouldn't affect (street driving that is) braking performance?

Same here for our C and E. With each hole an "independent event", I don't see how it matters where it is located relative to the others. The appearance of lining them up may be influenced by aesthetic concerns as well.

Agree. Wilwood sells hard core racing rotors. They emphasize special directional curved vanes in the rotor, vs hole/groove orientation on the sides.

Eh, was typing up another little response, but decided not to continue down this rat-hole that I've created. I guess I'm just an **** retentive person who likes symmetry...
