Importing Files to the Music Register

Hey everyone!
New to the board, etc. yadda yadda.

I am curious if Mercedes did something incomprehensible with the Music Register. I own a 2010 R-Class, and my wife just purchased a new 2012 C-Class. I would like to load up her music register from a SD chip, or USB key-drive, but it appears that MB no longer gives you this option. I can do it with the (now terribly slow-seeming) system on my year+ old R-Class, but there seems to be no menu selection anywhere in the new car to do this. The music plays fine right from the chip or flash drive, so the system IS reading it, and no files are DRM (or at least none show as .m4p)

Further, the manual says in one paragraph that you can import from CD, SD, or USB, then gives directions ONLY for importing from CD. Is this a feature that MB has taken out for this model year? From American market cars? Is this paragraph a left over and should have been edited out? What?

This isn't a critical issue, but it would be nice to figure out.

Sorry for the bad news, but MBUSA is completely dysfunctional. They have indeed removed the feature from the US spec cars, and they have of course neglected to correct their documentation. Most of the MBUSA documentation is riddled with errors.

There used to be a way to re-enable the music copy feature from the engineering menu, but even that option is now removed. You can only transfer music into the music register by burning an audio CD and ripping the tracks over. Stick to your memory card or buy a larger one - the music register is now mostly useless.
