W204 Folding Mirror no longer folds
I just noticed this the other day and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what the solution was.
My C is an 08 so it has the folding mirrors feature, and you can have the car fold the mirrors when the vehicle is armed. Well a couple days ago, I noticed the mirrors weren't folding after the vehicle was armed. I tested the folding mechanism by pressing the fold button and they operated as designed. I checked the menu to make sure that the mirror folding feature was enabled.
Any ideas?

I wonder if my recent changing the batteries in my remote may have affected the way the car operates. Or if there is a secret sequence of remote buttons may have turned off the feature. I will see if using the other key makes any difference.

That's the issue, I'm way beyond the warranty period and I don't want to deal with the stealership.

I am having the same problem, mirrors will not fold in...started a couple of weeks ago?
Also since day 1 there has been an interesting noise when you unlock and enter car it sounds like a fax machine like sound coming from drivers side mirror area?? it is not consistent and lasts for 2-5 seconds usually.
Any thoughts.

had my dealer 'fix' this issue three times... finally, the third time there was a latest TSB that called for the "drilling" of holes in the joint and a special remedy with lubrication to be applied, not sure of exact details check with ur dealer the tsbs...
after that third tsb fix, they made a hard change to the hardware... problem solved ever since

sounds made are why they were discontinued after 2008... too many comoplaints and a major design flaw that allows moisture to collect in the joint and cause a constant creaking noise when unfolded from time to time..
had my dealer 'fix' this issue three times... finally, the third time there was a latest TSB that called for the "drilling" of holes in the joint and a special remedy with lubrication to be applied, not sure of exact details check with ur dealer the tsbs...

They said they "Noted" it and if I have the issue after my warr period they will still get it covered (assuming I can duplicate it for them)

I have the SAME EXACT issues! I took it to the dealership and they could not dulpicate the sounds. My warr expires in a few days too
They said they "Noted" it and if I have the issue after my warr period they will still get it covered (assuming I can duplicate it for them)

Also OP it may suck but if you go to the dealer they charge usually a 50 dollar or more diag fee to see whats wrong, and when they discover whats wrong if you fix it, they will apply the diag fee as a credit toward the service repair.

Folding mirror's...fax like sound is back?
My 2009 c300 4matic is having problems with folding mirrors again.
When I disarm the car and enter vehicle there is a strange squeal noise coming from the mirrors...it is similar to the sound you get from a fax machine.
It also has the rubbing noise but that does not concern me.
I am worried the fax like noise is a warning of further problems?
And of course the dealer can't duplicate sound.
Any idea's

Regarding the noise, my mirrors used to make the sound but MB fixed it under warranty with no problem. My issue is that when I press the lock button on my key, the mirrors actually unfold instead of fold, whereas its supposed to be the opposite. I don't know if this is an errors from my end or a bug.
The automatic fold feature is "enabled", but when the car is turned off they don't fold, so I manually fold them and when I get out and lock the doors, it unfolds.
Can you help?

Hello,
I need help to get the type of problem I am having.
Usually when I lock my c300 using remote the car used to make beep, lock and the mirror folds. And when unlocking it opens while mirror unfold on opening one of the the front door.
Few days ago, the sound stopped and the mirrors stopped folding and unfolding on opening the door, yet the door locked properly and unlocked on remote instruction.
Morover, it seems no problem with The mirror as they still fold and unfold on manual key located in the dashbord.
Can anybody please direct me to the problem? Is it a fuse problem? Which number and where it is located?

No it is not customised. I get it straight from official dealer same year of manufacturing.
Also, I don't think there is a problem with the motor, as I early stated the mirrorsame still folds and unfold from the manual button located by the LHS of the steering whee.
Can you still help?
BTW, I am in Lebanon.

My 2012 in Canada has the folding mirrors they work great, no weird noises coming from them.
When winter hits I make sure to turn the feature off so the ice doesn't freeze them shut hahaha.
knock on wood I don't have issues with them in the future, I do like the feature but if a problem occurs ill probably just turn the feature off. (I'm off warranty for everything but the trans and engine).
