Official w204 HIDEAWAY License Plate Thread - Keep the clean look w/no more tickets!
Hate that I can never roll anywhere in Los Angeles that only has street parking without running a very high risk for "no front plate" tickets...
The damn city is broke and needs to pay all those unsustainable public worker pensions, so the meter maids are out in full force these days and I have probably got 4-5 front plate tickets in the last year with about a 75% "pop" rate if I ever park in the street within LA city limits for more than an hour...
Been wanting to do a Hide-Away License plate kit like either of these here, check out the sweet youtube videos:
manual (most reasonable and most stealth):

motorized
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1zIG...feature=fvwrel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0r0x8l6GS4
Before
After:
Anybody have any experience installing any of these on a W204???
Here is one on Amazon for 40 something bucks, check out the reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Show-Go-Licens...DateDescending
There are also a few kits from swift motor sports: http://www.swiftmotorsports.com/index.php?cPath=2049
Or maybe we can do a group buy with one of the 10 lots on ebay if anybody can figure out how to make it work on a w204?

Havent seen anybody here post any hide away plates so far, so I am hoping we can find an easy solution to get this done as DIY for those of you in LA or areas where this is needed!

that will work for the front plate ticket, but then they may just ticket you for something else, like tint or anything you might have on the car... i waited about 4 months after i got my plates last year to put them on. took the chances with the dealer plates

I have that in my cars for years and usually hit it as soon as I see the cop, dont let them pull you over because here in NYC, you have to have in screwed in and not dangling. I have friends who get tickets because their plates are not screwed in or it's on the mesh area.

My friend did this on his CTS-V. Looks pretty sick. I've hear though that if your car is lowered, your license plate can take a bit of damage from bumps, slopes, etc. Just google for this, a lot of coverage in the 3 series forums.

I read a short article about how Jobs got away with no plates at all on his MB. Seems there is a loophole in the CA registration law that allows you 6 months to register the car, his lease was only 6 months so new MB every 6 months.

I'm in quite the opposite boat; I wanted the front license plate on my car. I live in Florida which doesn't require front plates, but I travel enough to New York and Virginia (Autotrain!) that, "touch parking" marks keep turning up on my car, especially the front bumper. My solution; the front license plate holder! In retrospect, I could have gotten a clear covering. OK, forget what I just said!
