um i switched them out with new rims like 2 weeks ago, but did several canyon runs with the painted rims several as in 10+ runs of hard driving for like 2 hours a time, no rock chips melting or anything. Great since Brake dust is also black so if oyu want to clean just rinse and your done

I'm getting the itch too. I've decided to keep my car for another yr at least so plasti dip is a gret economical way to change the look while saving up coin for the next ride I want to plasti dip my wheels also. Did you take your tires off? Was it difficult?

I plasti dipped mine back in November and they've made it through the entire winter without needing a touchup. Still like the way it looks.

put on the tires first because after you plasti dip than put on the rims the plasti dip might come off. It did for me when I put new tires on

Is that what you did you your chrome trim as well, or something else?
Also, is there a glossy one?
thanks

Hi,

I love how you panted the lip on the front bumper. Adds so much to the stock bumper, but in a subtle way. What lip is that and who did you purchase from? Thanks!

It addresses the main thing I don't like about the straight stock bumper and that is it doesn't look tall enough to me. By painting the lip it adds just a bit more height without really changing the overall look. What do you think?

How do you guys remove the chrome trim from the sides. Also, how do you 'black out' the window trim? Thanks.

Big shout out to FknBoss for voicing your opinion!

You can buy "shadowline trim" vinyl online in gloss or matte to black it out, or you can plastidip the trim. I've done both on my brother's E92 and plastidip was by far the easier solution. Dipyourcar sells glossifier for plastidip so it could have a more satin finish. You will need a heatgun/hairdryer for the shadowline trim vinyl and you'll need a lot of patience. Make sure to buy a wider strip because it will be easier to work with and stretch. You can search videos on youtube on how to plastidip or vinyl your trim. I personally like the glossy vinyl look better.

I had my stock rims plastidipped for a while and I loved the aggressive look. Made the car look lower and the large sidewall/wheel gap less noticeable. I recently removed it and the car looks much classier, but I don't want to dish out $700 + $800 for a new set of wheels and quality tires.

I'll probably order some plastidip glossifier and see if glossy black would look better than matte black since my car is black and I don't really have any other matte stuff on my car.

has anyone ever tried to dip their wheels white? seems like they'd be stupid hard to clean......but there is a gloss finish spray? or just one for a satin finish?

I think it's the best option and you'll save thousands and lots of time. You cam get a lip like that for 200 bucks and a white piece of vynil wrap for 20 bucks. I've done a bunch of stuff in vynil and I like it better than paint because of rock chips and cost.

Also in my opinion this car is close to perfect in my eyes. Needs a trunk lip and I would have kept the mercedes emblem on the grille
