footwell light on when driving

I noticed that when I drive my 2011 C300, both footwell light are on but very dim. If I don't look at them I will not know they are on. Doors are securely closed with no red warning face on the center meter.

Is it normal?

It is normal. It's the "mood" lighting. You should also have very dim lights near your door handles and under your mirror. Some owners switched out the bulbs for a whiter color but I prefer the soft, amber lights that matches the center dash display.

Thanks. Yes, I know the dim light right at door handles, but never noticed the light under the mirror.

Yeah, I like this. In fact, I put Mike's LED's down there (8000k) to give a nice blue color. Tried Blacklight LED, but they weren't bright enough, until the door opened. But the 8000k are cool even in the "dimmed" mode, and awesome when the doors open!

I replaced both footwell bulbs with the white LEDs got from eBay, and it's got some funny errors. I forgot what it was but something like a few seconds after door was open the LEDs started blinking. I tried one LED with the other bulb factory original, and it was OK.

Now I put both facory bulbs back. I appreciate it if someone could tell me what to do to eliminate the error with LEDs.

Well, Mike's LED's (AznOptics) have resistors built in that don't throw errors. But the interior lights don't throw errors on the dash. It sounds like the LED's you bought off eBay aren't capable of "dimming" like AznOptic's LED's can. So when the car dims the lights, the LEDs blink because they aren't getting enough power. I don't think a resistor will fix that, the LED probably has to be designed to dim.

My suggestion, pick up some AZNOptic LED's, you won't be disappointed, great warranty, great quality product, competitive price, and he has our car and has made sure they are 100% compatible, so its worry-free!

May I know how to change those dim lights at the door handles? What is the led bulbs' parts # (8000k just like yours) from AZN.

Thanks.

I thought about taking out the white LED I installed in the front ceiling lighting module and use the amber LEDs, to match the entire environment light color. Your post triggered me again and I ordered some amber LEDs from eBay yesterday.

I still have problem taking off the rear ceiling lid. They say just apply a little more force and it will come loose...

Only the passenger footwell light stays on. Isn't there any way to turn it off?

Nope. I'd change the LED with the regular one and do not even see it now.
