fitting tires on stock rims - C300 sport

Hi

I'm going to buy a set of winter tires for the coming winter, and am looking at the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D V.

I was hoping on using my stock rims (17 x 8.5 rear, 17 x 7.5 front) with these tires, but would prefer to not use a staggered setup so I can rotate tires/wheels with every winter to extend life.

I know that the overall fitting for 225/45R17 and 245/40R17 that is stock is about the same dimensions for the tires - does that mean I can rotate both the tires and the rims from front to rear and rear to front interchangeably?

I just don't want to stretch 2 tires if they won't fit my stock rims, and the only reason I wanted a non-staggered setup was to rotate - but if I can rotate with the stock staggered dimensions then I'm fine with getting those dimensions too.

Would like some advice - is what I'm thinking of possible? Has anyone used their stock rims for a new set of tires and did you go for staggered or non staggered and what were the results?

thanks =)

I stretched 225's on the rears but it was close. Mr Tire not very happy. You won't be able to rotte becausevthevrears don't fit on the front.

You have theright idea about ratating but I regret not buying a dedicated set of wheels. TirecRack has wheels and tires for $1000 - $1200.

C300 4MATIC
I have the staggered 7.5 x 17 & 8.5 x 7 rims on my 09 C300 Sport 4MATIC. I found someone selling the same set for $200! I got an idea that I would buy them and go with a non staggered set up and have two sets for winter and summer. I wanted to use the 8.5" rims in the front and rear for my summer tires and then put blizzaks on the 7.5" rims for winter.
I tried a test fit before purchasing the extra rims and discovered that the 8.5 x 17 rims will not fit on our cars! The offset is to high and the tires were touching the strut. I believe the 8.5" is like ET55 or something. An 8.5" rim will only fit up front if it's like 48" or lower.
Glad I didn't buy the rims.
I would like to try a set of 18 x 8.5 AMG 5 star C350/e350 rims with ET48 on the front and rear with a 245/40/18 tire. This way I can rotate them for longer life and and even tread wear. If any one knows if this will or wont work let me know?

I was just in Waterloo last weekend on a family visit (had a great dinner at Bauer Kitchen!). I know what kind of winters you can have, and wish to suggest you reconsider the tires. You have selected a "winter performance" tire, which is less than optimal for either winter or performance...an attempt to compromise both. Take a look at tire rack's web site and consider one of the "studless ice and snow" tires, such as Michelin X-Ice Xi-2 or Blizzak WS70. This will be significantly more capable when winter strikes. You know how that 401 can be!

Buy 2 sets of OEM's for ~$400, just use the fronts for snows.
