Looking to buy a 2008 C300......anything to look out for?.....

Good morning, shopping for a car for my wife. Looks like we're going with a 2008 C300. Car I'm looking at has low miles (under 20K)......anything I need to check/be aware of with the 2008's? I know it was the first year for W204 so I'm just doing my homework. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. PS, it's not a 4-matic. Thanks in advance.

under 20k may be a tall order to find, just make sure its had its A and B services done, the m272 is a solid engine, as is the whole car as far as I know.

Normal changes of fluids, wheel rotations, inspections. Try to find a CPO if you can. Dont know of any real issues.

Make sure the harness for the rear lights is good or has been replaced might have to have a dealer check it was something that was suppose to be fixed under warranty I think a few months back some one on here bought one that didn't and the dealership was trying to charge them don't remember the out come of it . Not all 08 had the problem but a lot did there is a old thread on it on here

in regards to the car, IMO it is a solid choice, haven't had any major issues. Just check the usual stuff like the service records, tires, brakes.

Having said that i would look for one that still has some form of warranty left or purchase it for a piece of mind. good luck i am sure you will enjoy the car

I have only had "small" things needing fixing, well pretty small, nothing mechanical (knock on wood).

Some of the 08s did have extra dusty rear brake pads that wore out quicker.

Some 08s had rear door lock pins that came off if you tried to unlock the rear car door with them.

I've had both of my front seats worked on in my 08. The passenger seat needed a $1500 part.

I have a couple odd rattles that are hard to track down too. I wish I had more warranty left to sort these out.

Extended warranties won't normally deal with squeaks and rattles unless it's a major component causing it.

Try to find out what kind of warranty is left on the car you buy.

I will forever have a place in my heart for the W204 though. I think it's a great car!
