WINTER TIRES PROBLEM
WINTER TIRES PROBLEM
Yesterday, I got new winter tires installed. I had my summer tires dismounted from my benz rims and the winter tires mounted. After the change, I noticed that there was a lot of vibration in the car, I could feel the steering wheel and the seat vibrating while on the freeway. And also the car oversteers. Overall, the car feels very different. I was coming out of the freeway and braked. I could feel the back tires losing a bit of control and sliding. I don't know if all this is normal for winter tires because its my first time having them.
Check your air pressure. Besides that vibrations are usually caused by unbalanced wheels. Perhaps they took off the balancing weights when they dismounted the summer tires? I would bring it up to the attention of whoever did this for you. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps they somehow messed up your alignment?
It's not a good idea to continually mount/dismount winter tires due to all sorts of issues of increased wear and tear on the rims, re-balancing, damage to TPMS sensors etc. Get a set of basic rims for winter use and have them mounted once. The winter tires are likely out of balance.
I don't know where in the country you reside, but I'm not aware of any snow yet to justify the winter tires, unless you need to replace summer only tires due to temperature changes. They will handle differently. You need to adapt a different mindset that this is NOT performance season...this is moderate driving time to get through snow. You should hold off until the first significant snow arrives to use dedicated winter tires, unless, again, you have summer-only tires and need to get off them before they freeze into hockey pucks.

Thanks for all the help. I'm pretty sure it is a balance problem from the research I have done online. I live in Toronto, Canada. Dismounting the tires don't really affect the rims, its more on the tires. My car is leased for 2 and a half more years so I don't really see a point in getting rims and tires. And I got winter tires because if I just used the all season tires, they would be worn out by the end of my lease and Benz would just charge me for it anyways.
TH_AMG,
I also think tire bead damage is very likely with switching tires on 1 rim set, and this was included in Sportstick's "etc" above.
It's a waste of time trying to help owners without basic car info:
