Brand new 2012 c250 SRS warning light comes on

Just took delivery of a 2012 c250 with 20 mi on the odometer 2 days ago. But everytime I start the engine, a warning message in the dash pops up saying there's a SRS malfunction. Then a little red airbag/seatbelt symbol stays on.

Anyone encounter this? I just picked up the vehicle and dont want to drive it back to the dealer so soon. Wondering if it's just a simple computer glitch and if it goes away by resetting something.

I think you need to bring back to dealer ASAP. You don't want them to malfunction when that thing happen.

I am not sure if it is related, but the very same thing happened to me before.

Long story short and without going into the details, in my case it was caused by a low battery condition that triggered the SRS warning light (e.g. someone left an interior light on while the car was sitting at the dealer or after a test drive, etc., etc.)

I brought my car back to the dealer, the technican hooked up his computer and reset the SRS warning light, and it was all good to go.

With best regards,

Back to the dealer.

Was the light on when you took delivery? Should never have driven it off the lot if so.

The SRS Malfunction light didn't appear until the next day (after picking it up).

Ah, that's a real pain then!! Not your fault in the least.

Did you get your car back to the dealer for diagnoses? Did they find anything? I had exactly the same situation (picked up the brand new 2012 C250 and the very NEXT day, the SRS malfunction light came up). Our car is in the dealer's service department now. Will report to the forum later about what they found out...

By the way here is a picture of the malfunction message:

So, the dealer was able to reproduce the malfunction after a lot of testing.

Basically, if you move the front passenger seat forward to the max, then put some pressure on the back of the front passenger seat (when the engine is turned on), the SRS malfunction light will come up.

I wonder if this is a design flaw which apply to most (if not all) new 2012 C-class sedan, or it's just my car? If anyone here in this forum who has a 2012 C250 can try to see if you could reproduce this SRS malfunction by (1) move your front passenger seat forward to the max, and (2) put some pressure on the back of the front passenger seat, that would be great! I hope I'm not the only one who is having this weird issue. Thanks!

I took delivery of my brand new C250 coupe just 4 days ago and this morning when I started it I got the SRS malfunction light and message. I have taken it back to the dealer and have had to leave it there as they do not know what is wrong with it! Have they fixed your problem and if so how?
