Offset Specifics....
Offset Specifics....
Having come from the Jeep/Crawling world, I've made the transition from dealing with backspacing to offset....simple enough.
I've found that our W204s are offset sensitive....opinions going from around +40 to +55 or so....but +40 at the minimum (taking into consideration wheel width as well).
Now that I'm in the serious hunt for wheels....why is +37 too low for an an 18x8 or 19x8.5 wheel?

Kevin's fronts are at +32 and rears at +40 on 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 respectively. Looking at the pics, they really do not seem all that bad.
Anyone else running a more aggressive offset on 18s or 19s?

I have a set at +35 in 8.5 and 9.5 that I run occasionally. Its all depending on if your dropped or not. U can run any offset really, but u will stretch ur tires depending on size. +37 works fine for 8 or 8.5, but most of use want wide tires for the look. I run a set w 10" rears at +45 offset w 275's and it clears barely, looks like a musclecar from the back lol. Find some wheels u like then post up your specs and the ride height and I'll let u know what fits what
Basically down to 2 sets:
Roderick RW-2s in the staggered 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 (et +45 and +48...pretty standard)
I found a site that does custom powdercoated LM reps in 18x8 or 19x8.5...both at +37...and non staggered.
The car is being taken to the shop tomorrow finally for Eibach springs and f/r sways...so the drop wll be very little....mainly just to get the fender gap down a bit.
Without drawing it out....trying to figure out how flush or pokey the 19x8.5s will be....with tires that arent stretched...or stretched too much.

the rodericks u can run no prob w any drop. The reps at +37 will fit too, the eibachs are barely a drop at all, u wont even notice the drop, its like half an inch. On the 18s u wanna run 225/40/18s and on the 19s u wanna run 225/35/19s. U could run 235 and clear w 19s, but they need to be skinny tire brands. u will have issues w reg tires up front on bottom outs when your wheel is turned hard
If you want a real aggressive look ur gonna want staggered wheels, OR get a small spacer for the rears and will give you the look while still being able to rotate the tires

....I'm leaning toward the Rodericks....I love how they look and think they'll add a clean touch to the car.... I did the whole poke look back in the early 90's when I ran full reverse 13x10 Daytons on my GTI.... I'm a tad older now....so I may end up being a bit more conservative....lol. I'll post some pics when the lip...stereo.....wheels...springs....spoiler...and white strut brace are installed....
After looking at wheels for the past 2 weeks...they all start looking the damn same after a bit....
