Hopefully simple Multimedia Interface Plus (MIP) question
If the car had MIP, and an iPod was plugged into the MIP unit in the glovebox, and an iPhone was paired with the car and with the MIP unit, but NOT plugged in and kept in-pocket, would the car be able to easily
- play music from iPod
- sync contacts from phone
- stream audio from phone
- run Pandora from phone?
Also, relevant to this theme, how does the car react to things like Siri and voice note chat apps? In my 335, if I bring up Siri via the phone, the sound comes through the car, and the car's microphone is used to listen for my commands.
Thanks!

What do you mean by iPhone is synced with MIP unit?
IPhone pairing with the car is only for phone interface and not for music.
To play any music or stream music via car speakers you will need to plug in the MIP cable to iPhone. At least that is what I have to do in 2008 W204.

To utilize the MIP, which is in and of itself a Bluetooth device, you have to sync the phone with the car, the MIP with the car, and the phone with the MIP.

Yes, you can do all these things with the MIP. But I don't know if this is possible all at same time. I have never tried it myself, with the iPhone 4S. I don't know if the MIP can work with two devices synced to it.

Would it really be two devices "sync'd" though, in my example? I would think the iPhone would be sync'd but the iPod would
Simply be plugged in (and acting just like if an iPod were plugged in without the MIP add-on).
Thanks

I really think that the iphone being synced via bluetooth would be prioritized via the MIP.

For cars that can't bluetooth stream, but DO have either the 3.5mm Aux jack OR iPod cable - our Anystream or StereoStream give you wireless music streaming abilities.

Wow, that would be really annoying if true. A large iPod plugged in has many advantages over the iPhone via Bluetooth (capacity, quality, no battery drain on the phone, etc). Oh well. Maybe I'd be better off having the regular iPod hookup then, and trying to come to terms with the fact that MB can't figure out how to build a car that simply syncs an iPhone with its communication interface. I realize there are the "workarounds", but it's still pretty embarrassing.
