Brake Pads Thickness

Hi there w204 people, I've searched and havent seen any specific answer on my question. My car (09 C300 Sport) is presently undergoing a A0 Service. The service advisor presently informed me that my rear pads are only 3mm thick and my front is still around 8mm. They advise me to replace the rear pads, while the front is still good as per them. I've learned from my search here that there are instances that the rear fades faster than the front ones. But my question is what are the OEM Brand New Thickness of the front and rear pads? And in addition, at what point will the car's computer/warning system inform me that the pads are due for replacing? I just find it odd that at such low thickness the car still didnt give a warning.

Looking forward on some inputs.

Drive in good health!

James

Original pad thickness of my Australian delivered 220CDI was 13mm front & 12 mm rear. They may be different elsewhere.

Lower Limit thickness for both is 3mm .

If you have built in warning devices your car will alarm when they are a little lower but in my opinion the dealer is correct in saying they should be changed. It is their policy to change them if they will wear out before the next scheduled service. Common sense.

All the best James.

Hi Carsy, thank you for the information. Actually, I already have them work on it. I just want to see how much I wear on the brakes.

Next stop for me is to see if the car is equipped with brake pad warning... I believe it does. I'll let you know asap.

Got it new, i clocked in 30500 miles, and this is the first brake job other than brake fluid flushing and bleeding. Everything is bone stock, nothing changed. Only drove in Los Angeles, CA never really had a "long drive" with it. The car was only driven by me on a very conservative rate. I usually average 23 mpg city, and around 34 mpg highway (around 35 miles 1 way) to give you an idea on the level of being conservative lol. No hard braking done.

This W204 has strange habits.

Conventional thinking would have the front pads wearing at a faster rate.

It may be conservative drivers wear the rears faster ?

Thank you James.
