Removal of the A/C controls / acc wire
Hi,
I'm trying to install a VIM unit from nav.tv. Since my car has a Mitsubishi head unit I need to hook the VIM unit up to an acc/key wire. The folks over at nav.tv tell me that the wiring loom to the head unit doesn't have an acc wire, which I find pretty strange. According to the information found here, there should be an acc wire. Though, when measuring, I get 12V on the wire with the ignition switched off... Not so much an acc wire, I'd say... That must be why the people over at nav.tv suggest me to connect the VIM unit to the cigarette lighter, since that has a real acc connection.
Problem is that I don't know how to get to the cigarette lighter. My guess is that the A/C controls need to be removed, after which I could probably get to the wiring. Another option might be to get wiring from the cigarette lighter in the glove box.
Which would be simplest?
Is there and explanation for the 12V on the acc wire to the COMAND unit?

My post implied the following: if you cannot answer my question, don't try to come and tell me that my unit is too complicated or whatever. I got it, it needs to be installed and I need some specific advice about that. Nothing more, nothing less. Thanks for understanding.
