Driver seat noise?
Over the past few weeks there has been this weird noise coming from inside my driver seat, and now the noise seems to be getting worse. It sounds almost like a popping noise or like grinding teeth noise, not a squeak. It is coming from mid to lower back section of the seat kind of by my kidneys on both sides. The crazy thing is that I can't duplicate the noise unless I drive the car and kind of settle into the seat. It mainly does this when I accelerate from a stop and just before I come to a stop. I took it to the dealer, and after driving a loaner for over 24 hours, they were unsuccessful in diagnosing the problem. Does anyone have any ideas that I can pass this on to the dealer? It could be the springs in the seat internally rubbing together. Does the level of recline in your seat affect it?
I've been experiencing this in my smart for the past couple of months - mainly when the seat has less recline. I finally pegged it for my weight shifting in the seat and what it was - and after some pushing and prodding I was able to figure it out. If it weren't being traded in less than a month, I would have pulled it apart already.
