COMAND hardward/soft versions for Option 512

COMAND hardward/soft versions for Option 512
So i have decided to go ahead and do the COMAND retrofit into my 2010 C350 that has the option 523512 audio 20. I have a 2008 donor vehicle that has an option 512 (COMAND APS w/ DVD player) part# A204 870 99 90. I cross referenced it with the my 2010 and its a match , but course since replaced by a different part#.
My question is, is there a difference in hardware/software between the 2008 and 2010 version of this same system? In other words did Mercedes make any major changes in what COMAND will do or does between those years? On the top of that did they do anything for MY2011? Obviously major changes in the MY2012 that still lists the option 512.
Hopefully one of you COMAND Gurus knows the answer to this one.

Not entirely sure but the 2010+ cars have better iPod connectivity (info on the screen instead of cluster only) when equipped with the media interface option. May want to do more research to see if the 2008 system has the function, or if it can be retrofitted.

Not sure. I have an ipod interface that i am also installing that is the same part # as the newest retro parts. I also bought the ipod amp. I planned to install on my audio 2020 anyway so will have that.
