2011 C "HOLD function"?
In Instructional Videos in MBUSA.com, I selected 2011, C-Class, there I saw a HOLD function. It says if we press brake beyond a full stop, instrument display will show a "HOLD", meaning we do not need to hold the brake; it is held by car itself until we hit the gas again.
It is a misinformation? The instrument display in the vedio does not even look like a C-Class.

You are correct, the instrument display in the video is not a C-Class it appears to be an S-Class.
However the function is still the same, just the display will be different.

noticed this as well
Very interesting post- I did notice this happening but wasn't sure how to activate it again. I guess I will be pushing down further on that break more often.

Lots of bad info in this thread.
The hold function is only available on the 2012 C class in the United States (it is available from 2011 on in the rest of the world). You will notice the hold function when at any grade, up a hill down a hill or level. It will keep the vehicle from moving in any direction indefinitely until you press the accelerator. Great at red lights. As stated, depress the brake further after the vehicle is stopped. HOLD pops up in the updated instrument cluster.
The Hill Hold function has been available for many model years and automatically works on hills to prevent rolling backwards for 5-10 seconds.

And my 2010 6 speed. Keeps me from rolling back on hills. Hill assist is great. Cuts down on clutch slippage. I know how to drive so that really doesn't happen anyway but it's still fun.

My 2010 C300 2wd auto has it. No need to do anything special other than when stopped on a hill the car holds. Not indefinitely, however. Accelerate and it releases.

The hold feature requires 2-two depresses of the break pedal to activate. There does not seem to be a time out, which if you think about it would be dangerous. This is a feature of the breaking mechanism, so I don't think grade is relevant. Think of it like cruise control for the break. Only gas pedal deactivates, pressing the break pedal seems to be ignored.

Obviously 2011 C only has one hold function for on the slope shift to D; it will hold for a very short time. It does not have two step brake to hold it forever until gas padel is depressed.
2012 C has both HOLD functions and its manual says so. 2011 manual does not.

Also, I said only the 2012 c class because this is the C class forum! I wasn't referring to other Mercedes models. The 2011 and earlier in the US have hill hold but not the new hold feature.
Other models had the hold feature earlier, obviously.

One quick question. During the HOLD, will the rear brake lights be on as normal braking? I assume they will be.
Thanks.

To answer some other concerns in this thread:
If you try to get out of the car with HOLD activated and the car in any gear other than park, you cannot remove the key. As soon as you turn the engine off the display turns red, the radio mutes, and an alarm goes off.
If you insist on leaving the car with hold function on (the key is still stuck in the ignition, mind you) the car will begin to honk the horn incessantly to warn of the potential danger, until you return and put it in park.

Oh dear, many misinformed people. Coming from a 2009, 2011 and now having a 2012. MBUSA spec mercedes c-class does NOT have HOLD function on 2008-2011 c-class models. They do, however, have hill-start assist, which is where the car will hold when you are on an incline. Some may confuse this with hold beecuase if you press the pedal hard on a 2008-2011 it will engage hill-start assist for like 1-2 seconds, until the car realizes it is not on a hill, and then disengage.
On the 2012 c-class models however, it has hill-start assist as WELL as HOLD. What hold does is after the vehicle is stopped, you swiftly and forcefully press down the accelerator pedal further to active HOLD function. This will hold the vehicle for an infinite amount of time at any incline (uphill, downhill, level, etc). I thought it was rather "useless" but it has turned out to be very useful and great. Especially for red light races, it improves reaction time as it holds the brakes and you are able to FLOOR it right away. Works great ;-)

Yes rear brake lights come on during hold function. They also come on during hill hold on the pre-2012 US C class, & the 2012.

As far as hold is concerned on my 2012 c-class. I have put the vehicle in hold, shifted to Reverse and then gotten out to film the new tailights and the LED reverse lights I had put in. I didn't get any horn honking, just a chime on the inside of the vehicle. I had it like this for a good 2-3 minutes. Does this happen right away or after a little while?

I am fairly certain that my 2009 and 2011 c-class also had the third brake light illuminated for hill-start assist. I could clearly see the reflection of the third brake light in my rear window at night with my tints.

As far as the horn honk - you have to turn the engine off, seatbelt off, open door. The honking starts at that point.
