iPod control?

Hey everyone, so I recently traded in my BMW for my first merc, and I got an 09 with the flip out MM navi and everything.. Though that's not the case since i cannot control my iPod or stream audio via a2dp BT.

I searched the forum and google and I keep hearing about a UMI kit and other types of updates but so far it seems like those are for people looking to retrofit the entire navi into their car which I already have..

All I want is the cable so that I can control my iPod via BT streaming or the screen and steering wheel, if not atleast the latter. I cannot seem to find exactly what I would need.. It seems like it's not the $1700 UMI that I need, or is it? I read somewhere that it's simply a $200 cable to install?

Hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction, right now I'm just confused from what I've read. Thanks!

Do you have the iPod cable in the glove box? If so connect and go to disc and with the command scroll down to AUX you should be able to scroll your ipod with the end call button on your steering wheel.

The Anystream will allow bluetooth streaming in most Mercedes. You can see it on our site. cartronics.com

I only have the AUX input for a 3.5mm cable, so there isn't a dock connected anywhere specific to iPods. So would the controls still work with an AUX cable?

Would you happen to have or could you snap a photo of the screen? When I am in audio I only have "Radio", "CD", "CD Changer" and "CD/MP3" as choices.....

It is an iPod cable. I have plugged in a iPod touch, and iPhone and an iPad 1 and iPad 2 and nothing happens.

Would a MB stealer be able to figure out what or how the iPod connector works? Or if it is an aftermarket will they just say "good luck"?

With the Screen Open:
1.Select CD
2.Use the knob to select Aux
3.Press the Hang-Up button on the steering wheel to select Playlist, Artist, etc.
4.Use the Up/Down arrows on left side of wheel to scroll though choices.
5.Press OK

Thank you for the pictures... mine is way different but it does not show an AUX as a selection. Will have to have it checked out by a 12V guy I know see if he can figure it out.
