Stereo Head Unit Question

Hey guys. Newbie here. Picked up my 2011 C300 last Saturday. It has all the options I need except the stereo. No SAT radio and no USB port.
Apparently the HU has no provisions for SAT radio. I spoke with Scott at Cartronics and he indicated that my HU is not compatible with the SAT radio receiver he sells.

Right now my only option is buying a new HU from an MB dealer at $1,800 or whatever. Not sure if that includes the fiber optic cabeling, so it could end up costing more. An aftermarket HU is not an option because of the MB dash configuration. I also do not want to use an FM converter.
I could be running out of options.

My question: Do any of you know where I can buy a SAT compatible OEM HU at a reasonable price? Either thru an MB dealer or vendor. Not being cheap, just being frugal.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Bob

The new head unit from a dealer won't work either...sorry to say. There is one and only one Mercedes head unit that will work in a North American SL - and you already have it.

You don't need a new head unit - you need the fairly rare D2B fiber optic SAT (Sirius) tuner. It will plug into the network and away you go. Ebay is the best place to look.

I just checked the dealer network and there is ONE in the whole country. Expensive too - $945

If you are serious about wanting it, I would jump on the one right away. These are VERY rare. Retail is $1099 and we can get it for you (just as a service, at cost for $945)

You can prob change out the headunit for a diff model off ebay. I would pop your head unit out and see if you have the MOST connections, I think they all do. If so you could get a MM screen for less than 1000, they are easy to install and remove

Please help me out. Not at all familiar with MB audios. I've replaced stereos in Porsches, Corvettes and other american cars.
I've heard of MOST, but have no idea what it is. Also what is MM screen?
Pardon my ignorance.
Thanks
Bob
