Tire pressure...again

Hello all,

I signed up today to become a member, and I apologize if I am posting in the wrong place. I read the FAQ, but it did not help me.

I know it's a subject that has beaten to death, but allow me to ask it again. I have a 2009 C300 sports with 18" AMG staggered tires. The JAMB says 33-38 PSI and so does the fuel cap. I am running 225/40 ZR 18 in the front and 255/35 R 18 in the rear and they have about 35k miles on them. The ride is fairly harsh. My driving habits are easy going and never go over 90 mph. Is it wise to run the tires at 30-32 or 28-30 PSI or am I asking for trouble? These are OEM Contis 3 tires, which seem to have a really bad reputation. I am just trying to get a smoother and more comfortable ride. Should I consider a non low profile tires in the future?

I thank you in advance. I hope I can find where my question is going to show up. Told ya I was brand new

I have the same wheels with better tires (not those Conti rags) and I improved the bumpy ride by lowering the rear pressure to 35psi. So, 33/35. You will notice the difference and there will be no effect on tire wear.

Thanks RLE. The wear is no longer an issue for me after all these miles. I worry about the AMG rims, if I ran 30-32.
What tires are you running?

I'm using Bridgestone RE-050A on my MB and RE-050A PP on the Porsche. I expect to get 40K miles out of the fronts and when they are gone I'll replace all four with whatever tests well at that time.

This tire was factory supplied on the 2011 Porsche 997 Turbo and Boxster S so should be good enough for my C300. Of course, the Porsche OE tires are N-Spec but mine are pretty close. They are quieter than the Contis or Michelins according to the Tire Rack tests four years ago.

Thank you again. I adjusted the tires pressure to 31 F -34 R psi this morning, and from the little that I drove, I think it made a difference, but the "correct tire pressure" message came on twice, even-though I reset it before driving off.

I will start looking for new tires and will read reviews especially from Tire Rack. I am hoping to get more advice on tires like you gave me.

Have your car recognize the new tire pressure as acceptable.

Thank you, AkaSigFreak. That is what I did. It came on once more and I repeated the procedure and it was gone.
