Wait long enough and someone would surely figure out the DRL brightness issue. Check out this video........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktxIdFI8jio........notice the DRLs. Turns out that the crappy DRL controller on the back of the Spyder headlight can be replaced by a higher voltage, auto dimming DRL controller of better quality. The LED bulbs themselves are not the issue it's the controller itself. My headlights will be here in a few days. I'm gonna order some more powerful controllers and wire them in. They're available on ebay. Some of them even have the auto-dimming feature built in when the headlights (or park lights are turned on). I'm sure this mod will make the lights more appealing to people that were on the fence about getting them.

As of now my headlights are still on back-order (won't ship 'till 5 DEC). As for the DRL controller, I got an inexpensive one on Ebay direct from China (go to ebay and type in "DRL controller" as key words). Anyway, it has all of the features I mentioned before (including night time dimming). Looks like I'll be the guinea-pig for this mod. If this doesn't work, I'll have to order some Hella DRL ballasts (DRL, not HID) factory-direct from europe.

From the pictures on the product website (Spyder), the controller is the small black box (module) secured to the rear of the headlight assembly with screws. It has a GREEN wire and a BLACK wire coming from it. Physically, it's below the big rubber dustcap that seals the access to the H7 bulb. On the German site (http://www.sw-tuning.de/headlights/t...ck::28135.html) the exact same headlight is utilized. However, you can see where the DRL controller has been removedand the headlight modified.

The picture on the left is the modified assembly. The one on the right, unmodified. The LED DRL controllers are available on the German website too, by the way. To translate, click the British flag icon at the top-right corner of the page (makes life easier).

I've been following this thread for months. It looks like if they haven't made a Bi-Xenon version by now, they probably won't be making one in the future.
Can anyone confirm? I've been waiting for a Bi-Xenon option.

These have been out of stock for several months now, with the spyder headlights do they have a bulb already inserted or can you use the h7 bulb that came with stock heads ?

If anyone is still interested , I just bought a pair from amazon for $368 about two hours ago and I believe they have one pair left in stock. Free shipping to most states and not sure about international costs.

Sorry.....got it confused. The Left-side picture is the STOCK SPYDER HEADLIGHT.......the Right-side picture is the SPYDER headlight with the DRL control module modified (upgraded to higher wattage DRL module). I apologize for the confusion.

Ok I have had my new spyder headlights for a week or two. And a lot of people have told me that they flash different colors (like a rainbow). So after a few people told me that I looked and at the top of the beam of light the headlights change colors depending what angle you look at them. And today some guy asked me if I have emergency lights? Are my headlights the only ones that do this?! HELP

Particularly, for the newer installs, has Spyder improved the LED output or is a new power supply the only way to increase the brightness?
Now that my 08 is getting older, I have to keep doing things to it to keep the urge to buy something new at bay.
Thanks!

Still working on the LED DRL's.........I ordered (100) new high power dome-shaped LED's (3W each, 140-170 degree viewing angle) to replace the cheap ones the units came with....(only needed 16, got 100-count lot in case I mess-up).....finally got them in yesterday (took like 4 weeks). I just have to do some experimenting with them to find out the optimal position to mount them so that all of the facets of the DRL reflector housing can focus the light correctly (each DRL cubicle in the unit has angled reflector "mirrors" to focus the LED's emitted light outward)........will report back later.
