Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR)

I had a look at my window sticker again after one year of purchase, and noticed it under Safety/Security. It is not mentioned in the operation manual.

Does anyone know details such as how it works, will driver feel anything, etc.? Thanks.

Sounds like an electronic version of a LSD, but that's 100% guesswork??????
Maybe a rain/ice thing???

Meant for icy/snowy conditions. Great for up here in Alaska! If you're going up a hill and you start to fishtail for example, you hit that button and it will straighten you out. Very odd its not in the owners manual.

I google searched and found ASR is the same as traction control, just an MB name. C-Class US version does not have ASP on/off button, on has ESC on/off.

Thanks for the Youtube movie.

You've got it backwards. ASR (the more advanced version being ESP/ASR in US cars) will PREVENT wheel slip and fishtailing. If you start to fishtail DO NOT hit that button turning ESP/ASR off as you will be more likely to lose control and crash. The ESP off buttons purpose is to help spin wheels in snow and mud as stated in the video.

The owners manual mentions ESP, which encompasses ASR.

I dont know why I said that. Pressing the button will turn it off and you get the yellow triangle to stay illuminated so disregard my previous comment . I was told ESP is the advanced out of the two since ASR is incorporated with the ESP. ASR helps with your traction so you dont have wheel spin. You wouldn't want that system off in the snow/ice because you'll be spinning at the light trying to get the tires to grip. I turn off my ESP if I want to have some fun on a snowy day at an empty parking lot.
