Check Engine Light = New Head

My check engine light came on three different times over the course of a month. Each time the light stayed on for a day or so and then turned off. During this month the car never ran hot or underperformed. After the third time I made an appt with the dealer who determined that I needed a new head. They said that the 2nd and 3rd cylinders were not detonating properly due to the valves not being seated correctly. The head wasn't cracked however they seat the valves at the factory so it’s easier to order an entire head versus fixing the valves. Long story short... I’m still not sure why I needed a new head but I had one replaced under warranty this week

I would go to another certified mercedes mechanic and see what he says about the light. If your still under warranty go for it.

Damn. I'm hoping that this issue along with the ignition/steering lock were solved before my car was made. Hate dealing with recall or TSB issues. Have had to deal with several on my Titan, but they have worked out favorably for me so far. Never know if these things will fail while under warranty or not. At least I know of the issue and if something happens I can always point out other peoples issues.

As a quick follow up. I drive 500 miles + a week and prior to the head swap never got better than 29MPG... Yesterday I took a 147 mile trip and averaged 34.5MPG at 72MPH... I might consider the C a Hybrid !

I just had the light come on 3 days ago after a full tank refill, I noticed that the car has lost some power. Im not getting the same speed reaction when I press the gas pedal. It's more like looses power for a second .

Do you guys think its the bad gas or something to do with engine.

If the car is still under factory or extended warranty, I would suggest bring it to the dealer to check. I had it came on once. Checked my oil level but found no issue and dealer said the same. A few well after that, it came on the 2nd time. I brought it to dealer and hint that there might have been something wrong with the sensor. It took them half a day to diagnose and they replaced my oil sensor in the end. I think I got free oil change because of that haha

Just got the car from service.
It was the Thermostat P/N 272-200-04-15
They changed it and it was still under warranty so I'm one happy costumer lol
