Flare Shift?
Hi everybody,
I have a 2011 C250, my car has developed a symptom of “flare shift” recently, means when the car is cold (like parked overnight), when I first start driving it, when it shift from 2nd to 3rd gear, the engine RPM will all of a sudden jump up 2 to 3 hundred RPM at shift point, once it has done that once, it will be fine for the rest of the trip, so it only does it once when it first started up, and only when it is cold.
My car only has 8500 KMs on it right now, I wonder if there is something wrong with my transmission? If the clutch slipping or needs a software upgrade maybe? And BTW it is a 7G-Tronic.
Thanks!
Tomas

Did you guys change the transmission fluid at 39,000 miles? Well I guess it doesn't apply to tomasty. If anything, its under warranty so get it checked.

Thanks guys, I did send a email to the service manager, still waiting for reply.
I also have a 2004 VW Phaeton, which has 170K KMs, it is doing the same thing, I am not surprised due to its mileage and it is a ZF transmission, but my C250 only has 8500 KMs on it and it is brand new, so that made me wonder.
Will report back once I heard anything from the dealer.

All of my w204 do this. My 2009 C300, my 2011 c300, even my 2012 C250 (7,000 miles) does this. I think its because I drive it really hard and start to have particle buildup or something. It has to do with the K1 solenoid or valve or something on cold shifts.

You know what, I am starting to think this is normal for german cars, as I noticed my wife's 2011 Golf is doing the samething sometiems, not as usual as my C250 but it indeed does it. the Golf only has 8600 KMs on it as well.
The other thing I am wondering about is maybe the adaptive learning program on the transmission is responsible for this?

It's a known problem. MB has issued a bulletin acknowledging it exactly as described. There was no fix in the bulletin, and nothing has been issued since.
It's normal, with no known fix to date.

Thanks for the info, do you happen to know the bulletin number?
