My car is starting to have this too, what do you say when you go in to the dealer? I would think they would say it was your fault or that you scraped the molding

I had this problem, and I just told the SA that my roof rack moulding was "de-laminating," and they replaced it under warranty after they took a look. I don't know why I used that word. I saw it used this forum once. I'd just walk in and say the coating on the roof rack moulding is coming off or peeling.

I'm having the same issue with a 2009 C63 that I'm getting ready to sell. It's only got 40,000 miles and has always been garaged, so this is somewhat disappointing. It looks like some of you have been able to convince Mercedes to cover it. Even though this one is out of any factory warranty, I'm going to give that a whirl tomorrow with the dealer. The guy I'm selling this for has bought a slew of new Mercedes from this dealer, and just picked up his new E63 yesterday, so hopefully that will tip the scales.
If not, has anyone had success with removing this trim and having it repainted?

Update,
I took the car over to Hoehn Mercedes in Carlsbad, CA this morning and they took care of it. Two new strips installed. I was surprised it got done that quick. No factory rep, no singing and dancing, and they must have had the parts in stock. My service adviser called me a few hours later to tell me the car was finished! He didn't state that they warranted it or not. He just said they took care of it out of "goodwill". Either way, it's done. Thank you Paul Nelson. Thank you Hoehn Mercedes.

Damn that's so cool. Who would've thought.
I had mine replaced by insurance. Believe it or not, I hit a friggin deer one night. Hit the front grill, bumper, and hood then rolled over and busted the windshield and caught the roof moulding.

2010 C63 w/ P30
Wanted to chime in here, since I just went through this. The technical term that MB uses for these parts is "water deflector". On my 2010 C63, the part numbers are 204-690-75-82-9040 and 204-690-76-82-9040. I was able to get the set for $330+tax ($165 each).
