Imagine dropping this engine in a C300 4MATIC

This is the new engine from the 2012 SLK55 AMG, it's basically the 5.5 TT V8 they put in the S63s but without twin turbochargers. In the SLK55 it makes about 415hp and just under 400lbs/ft of torque, making it go 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. Since its got direct injection it gets 19 city 28 highway!

Imagine dropping that in a 2012 C300 4Matic, you'd have a car that gets both better MPG and more HP than an S4 and a 335, plus AWD and a naturally aspirated engine. It would even get better MPG than the old m272 v6. And because it fits in the small 2012 SLK roadster, I think the W204 chassis could handle the engine very well as it does the 6.3 v8. It could probably pull a 0-60 time of around 4.6 too as it has similar weight to the SLK. You could also keep it a sleeper or mod it like crazy with stuff exhaust and springs (no coilovers though on 4MATIC.)

To me this seems like the perfect W204, good MPG, powerful, AWD and naturally aspirated, just figured i'd share after drawing it up I know it's unrealistic and probably cheaper to just get a C63 (unless you consider gas costs and maybe reselling the old engine)

Very nice engine this one and about time V8's in general incorporated cylinder deactivation across a broader field, the feature has been around for a long time

A good idea too if maybe MB started to include this engine in the C Class line up.

Pity the MB diesels don't feature in all models and/or all markets, IMHO the 3.0ltr TT V6 diesel which is already fitted to the C350 RWD sedan would make the perfect powerplant for the C350 AWD variants
