Kleeman tuning for C300

Received this response from Kleemann. Personally I am tempted, this brings the W204 C300 to near pre-CGI C350 levels of performance, considering the advantage in lower weight. Email received is as follows:

Thanks for taking the time to write!

KLEEMANN's ECU upgrade for your C300 is priced at $1395.00 and brings gains fo 25 HP and 30 lb/ft. of torque, improved throttle response, and we remove the top speed limiter. We have a dealer in San Diego by the name of Automotive Connoisseur Group who has the ability to do the programming in-house for same-day turnaround.

KLEEMANN does not produce a supercharger system for the M272 V6 engine, and because this engine is no longer produced, there are no plans to develop one.

If you have any other questions or concerns, just let me know.

Thanks again!

Cory Umemoto
Technical Manager

ooh tempting. My warranty will be out in 3 months. This may be going on the xmas list.

I wonder how they pulled so much more power out of it via the ECU? I've never seen numbers like that on any upgrades for non-blower cars..

Strange response since Cory posted this on the forum 4 days ago:

The engine is so detuned by Mercedes it is disgraceful. Most manufacturers easily obtain 228 hp from 4 cylinders.

It takes more fuel to make more power. So...Yes.
But it's soooo worth it.
I looked into this when I first bought my car in 2007, but didn't because I couldn't get the speed limiter due to H rated tires.

If you get it please post a review, there aren't really any C300 owners who have posted feedback on ECU tunes so I've always been unsure on whether or not it's worth the money. Though when I read Mercedes detunes their engines it makes me want to get a tune to at least have my engine making as much power as it can .

It is not uncommon for tuned cars to get better gas mileage assuming you can keep your foot out of it.

Just wanted to throw in a plug for Cory and Kleemann. Cory has helped me out a few times in the past with the mods I have on my SL. Strangely, I have mods from EvoSport, Renntech and Eurocharged. If I had to do it over again, I would have gone all the way with Kleemann. They make good power gains, but still stay a bit conservative. I like that approach.

Why get an incredible tune like Kleeman and then "keep your foot out of it"?
Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

Getting a c300 and then trying to make it go fast is like buying a boat and then trying to turn it into an airplane. Its much cheaper to get a Mercedes that's fast to begin with like a 500 our 63

With an ignorant comment like that, I wouldn't expect you to understand that some of us (like myself) have other cars for that purpose (my 322hp SL). This is my daily driver and grocery getter, and I only liked the look of the Luxury model, not the fake aluminum and sport trim like 80% of the non-AMG 204s out there. But alas, you can't get anything other than a 3.0 in this trim. It would be pretty cool to add some power and pep to the commuter car.

And I'm glad you have the budget for a new 63, whereas I bought my 300 CPO with 12k miles because it was a better expenditure of my non-growing-on-trees funds.

Just my 2c

I agree with you. I was trying to answer the question about how it affects gas mileage with a bit of sarcasm. One of the main things a tune does is allow for greater timing advance thus making the car more efficient and produce more power. My tuned SL gets close to two MPG better on long freeway drives. Around town, MPG is down significantly as well as tread life of the rear tires.

Kleeman makes some good power and they are great guys!

We also have some great C300 products and you might want to check it out as well. We make pretty much the same power and have a pretty good price point.

We also offer a handheld programmer option. This allows you to tune the car in the comfort of your garage, as well as having the option to flash between stock and tuned for dealer visits!

Hey guys. Just wondering how much more kleeman is different than OE Tuning. Is it worth the price difference? I'm having opposite result with EO Tuning so I'm returning it.

Kleemann is a very serious performance company, an example is the supercharger they build for the E55 which can get sub 4-second 0 to 60 times. Drove one in Las Vegas, it put the Lambos and a Ferrari to shame.
