I went to the Concours on Sunday and snapped a few pictures. A 1928 MB 680S Sooutchik Torpedeo won best in show, and later that night at the Gooding & Company auction a 1936 MB 540K special roadster sold for 10.7 million. Not too shabby.

Thanks for the pictures. What's the Concours ticket price these days? BTW, at the recent MBCA Car Show here, a restored 540K arrived in a trailer. The interior was astonishing.

Not exactly sure what the tickets were going for, I believe around $250. And yeah, although the new MBs are very nice, they just don't compare with the craftsmanship of yesteryear. Not to start a grand debate about performance and styling and all, but they just don't build them like they used to.

Well, from a reliability and crash performance point of view, I'm thankful.

Looking at all those classics pretty much sums up why Mercedes is the best manufacturer around, they've been making the best cars for as long as there's been a car. And the 540Ks and 300SLs are just amazing.
