HID install works..but not really
I purchased an HID kid Saturday Via NJ craigslist. I found a guy who had 5000k which was surprising as most on craigslist said they never carry it.
Anyway install was fine, followed older posts (making a hole with 1" drill bit and feeding wires through etc) I also got a capacitor/warning canceller from the guy (says that on the unit it self, i thought they were 2 different things)
Install was fine, took me about 15 minutes to complete. Instantly i noticed my driver side light is a light brighter and shoots further then my passenger.
Did I do something wrong here? Ive done a ton of HID installs when I had an a4 ( removal of headlight was simple) not so much on this car.
Pictures make the lights look a little green, they are not in person.
Please help!

This may sound stupid but I had the same problem and the bulb was not seated right in the holder and locked down correctly with the piece of metal.
Hopefully it is something simple like that.

I had a hard time even seeing inside there, am I missing something? I feel like I had no room for my hand. I really had none on the drivers side and go figure that side works like a charm.
Going to leave my desk in a few and check outside of work.
in the meantime anyone else have suggestions?

tried that. Seems like its the headlight it self.. anyone else have a problem? When I went to install the HID's I noticed the dust cover for this light was missing. Luckily my mom has the same car (lease) so I took her dust cover and made the 1" hole for the installation. However, Im very surprised I never had any condensation or humidity in the headlight! Could this add to the problem? I took the bulb out while lit and its just as bright as the drivers side seems like it just not shining through the projector

The next thing you could try is to make sure the bulbs are sitting right. I've had a similar problem but it was because one of the ballast was bad. Try switching the ballast and see whether the problem is still there. Good luck!

The bulb could be burning out. Do you notice any build up inside the bulb? You have to careful when purchasing items off craigslist. theretrofitsource sells 5000k bulbs as well (I have them on my vehicle). Try swapping the bulb since you narrowed it down to either the bulb or the connector.

I bought this kit by Morimoto from the Retrofit Source: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=3893
These have an external error cancellor, start up in seconds and look pure white (I got 5000K). No complaints and the mounting brackets are very easy to use.

figured the set was cheap. was only $80.
Anyway I played with the bulb a bit and now it lights up fine. I also adjusted the height of the headlights to aim higher as I am almost blind at night. Coming from a TL with amazing factory headlight to this was kind of hard for me. Now the lights work perfect and light up the road no problem!
