W204 Side Marker LED Upgrade Problem
Hello All,
I just got a new pair of sexy side LED side markers for my 2008 C230 W204.
I installed them no problem.
BUT!!! Both turn on okay and.....then the drivers side flickers and turns off and the passenger one stays on...any ideas?
1) I reset the compunter by taking the battery out
2) I cleaned the socket
3) Tested the socket with the org bulb and passenger LED and works
Thx

I posted this same issue not too long ago...no one gave me solutions...but sum1 gave some insight...said the leds prob don't need as much power being sent from comp. As original side markers did...I'm gonna see if my mech guy can hook it up to the computer program and perhaps change the voltage output to the side markers....

I got those same exact ones from that same exact seller. I'm returning them tomorrow. Totally pissed. The one that fits in the driver side is marked "R"... Weird. It blinks and then turn off. Getting error message to check the light. I really like them and I am going to buy from some other seller. Ob4rEaL is right. Whoever made these did not properly install the resistor. The LEDs are shutting off because they are getting too much power.

I am running a similar set of these with no problems.
Here is the seller I bought mine from. I have had two sets with no issues.

Thanks. I'm going to give them a try. I was really sad when they lit on, flickered and died . lol
Does the same manufacturer make these or do these individual sellers have their own makes?

Switching them would be impossible since it wouldn't fit (it would be like trying to fit a headlight in the opposite side). I'm returning the pair and ordered from the recommended seller.

LEDs would not blink if they got too much power, they would simply give more light out, however blinking typically is caused by a poorly designed driver circuit that will cause oscillations; hence flickering. Simply put, these markers, although look nice, are flawed. Try to solicit feedback on other ones which are better constructed and do not have this problem.

Hi guys,
I don't post too much on here, I'm pretty much just a reader. I have a '11 c300 4m and I love the idea of the LED markers. The only thing is I wish they made a set with amber LEDs instead of the white. I know alot of guys love the white but Im that guy who wants the amber. I have now the clear markers with the chrome amber bulb.
Do you guys think it would be hard to replace the LEDs with a little solder know how?
Also those of you guys who have the better depot ones. Would you say the the circuit board is easy to get to?
Thanks guys

Seller definitely makes the difference! I went with the suggested seller and Wallah!

Did your mechanic sort this out by chance? I have the same issue with the new led side markers. I tried to install on the drivers side, no luck! I tested them in the trunk light socket and they both work.

You need resistors (led decoders)
I know this thread is very old but it’s worth a try, when you upgrade the LEDs you need resistors also (aka led decoders) to prevent the flickering, going out, and possibly blown leds.

Cambus capable error free LED, $3 for ten pack.
Working and recognized by the w204.
T-Taps to wire the sidemarkers inline to the original harness.
Both lights working
Viola. Total cost about $3.50 if you have a collection of T-Taps on hand. Takes 15 minutes of your time. Plus you'll have 8 extra LEDs for replacing other markers if you want. Beats paying to send the sidemarkers back anyday.
