Air Conditioner Effectiveness

How effective is the C250's air conditioner in the C250 in very hot climate like that of summertime Texas?

2012 C350
Don't know about Texas, but when I took my car to Vegas, it didn't feel as cool as it should have in the cabin set to 65F

Edit: It was like 114F in Vegas that day lol definitely not as cold as my BMW

Another round of ICE
Here in Michigan, we've had 90-100 degree days this year and I've been consistently impressed at how well the AC works. I don't know if C250 has any AC changes from C300.

It's hard to know that without testing it at high temps, and Texas is past the worst now. Thanks.

A white car with the ash (not black) interior helps, of course!

Of course! I see a lot of black MB and BMW for sale around here. I wonder if that just reflects their popularity, or whether it's because the owners have learned a black car doesn't make sense in South Texas...

A car
The temperature within the engine bay has a direct correlation with how effective your AC works.

After driving a E550 that is turbo'd and direct injection, the AC on that was..meh. The 2008-2012 C300 is awesome, but at the same time, C300's run quite a bit cooler without DI and Turbos. Not scientific, just my theory...

The C250 suffers from the same issue with DI and Turbo. Drove the new C300 with DI, and same issue. If the temperature is warmer in the engine bay, it won't cool as well. Flip open the hood wide open then blast the AC, you'll notice it comes out quite a bit cooler (also why extended idle Crown Vic police vehicles sometime pop their hood in the summer)

Since the AC condensor on all models is ahead of the radiator and the electric fan runs when AC is on, I'm having trouble with your theory.

If you want colder outlet temps (and I often do) I suggest pushing the MAX AC button for awhile.

Anyone ever have trouble with some strange odor from the aircon? It's like a musky / sour smell that's only there for the first few seconds when you first turn on the aircon.
